Black Feather is Harald Froland, based in Oslo, Norway. He used to play guitar in the 10-piece group Jaga Jazzist, but eventually found it necessary to focus on his own music. So, in this project most of the instruments are played by Harald, but there are also some valuable contributions from like-minded friends.
The music is a clash of organic rock and electronic elements, with a pop sensibility. The result is one hell of a progressive, textural jigsaw puzzle; simultaneously intriguing and stunning. Experimental, yet tangible, Black Feather combines spacious, vast sonic landscapes with a down-to-earth, more intimate ambience. This sound is born of versatility as it's influenced by classical and contemporary artists, free-form music, film scores, as well as pop structures.
Black Feather has shared stages with acts such as Mark Gardener (ex-Ride), fellow Norwegians, Serena Maneesh and avant-guitar legend Rhys Chatham. The first full-length recording of this ongoing project is due late summer 2007 on Other-Electricities.
